We have a dispensary at both our Bawtry and Finningley sites.  We are able to dispense medication for patients who live more than one mile from the nearest pharmacy.

We dispense to patients living within our catchment area during surgery opening hours. Please allow two working days for a repeat prescription request to be dispensed. Should you require urgent medication when the dispensary is closed, please call 111 who will be able to help you.

Order Repeat Prescriptions

What is a Repeat Prescription?

Some prescriptions are authorised by your doctor as a repeat. This means that you can obtain further supplies for a maximum of 28 days supply without seeing the doctor first.
You can tell if you have a repeat because the details will be printed on the tear off slip attached to your prescription or for online users the medication will be available for you to order online.

Medication Reviews

If you are receiving repeat medication, good safe practice requires you to have medication reviews from time to time depending on the medication you are taking.  This is important, to ensure the medication is working and to assess whether it is still appropriate for you.  Please attend your review appointment when we contact you.

Prescription Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Prescription charge (per item) £9.15
3-month PPC £29.65
12-month PPC £105.90

If you pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in twelve months it will be cheaper to buy a PPC.  To obtain a PPC telephone 0845 850 0030.

Further information about prescription exemptions and fees is on the NHS website

Collecting and Paying for Prescriptions

All prescriptions must be paid for on collection unless you can provide an exemption certificate or a pre-payment card.  It is important that you complete the back of the prescription correctly. Patients between the ages of 16-60 will automatically be asked whether they pay for their prescriptions.  For those patients who are exempt of prescription charges you must bring evidence of your exemption with you.  All patients or their representatives will be asked to sign for the prescriptions they are collecting. Please note the dispensary is not manned in the afternoons. Please speak to a receptionist instead if you require a dispensed prescription.

Medication Delivery Service

As part of our dispensing services we can offer a home delivery service.  If you have difficulties collecting your prescriptions then please contact us on 01302 710326.

Dispensing patients are invited to return any unused medication to the Dispensary for safe disposal.
